Our 20th anniversary celebrations…by order of the Peaky Blinders
The stars were out on Weston’s Grand Pier as we celebrated two decades of business in glamorous ‘Roaring Twenties’ style.
This year is the 20th anniversary of Purplex’s founding by our MD, Andrew Scott, and to mark the event staff and special guests gathered on the Pier in their best Peaky Blinders-era finery.
Tweed suits and matching caps, cocktail dresses, sequins and pearls mingled with traditional black tie as guests flouted the Prohibition laws of the era, tucking into an excellent selection of cocktails invented in the speakeasies of Chicago and New York.
An original 1927 Lea-Francis Special two-seater car was available for guests to pose alongside, while inside the pier we enjoyed an hour of free rides followed by a champagne reception and canapes.
After that, we were ushered upstairs for a welcome speech from Andrew, a three-course dinner and dancing to trad jazz band Trip For Biscuits, playing today’s hits in an authentic 1920s Dixieland/Charleston style.
The event wrapped up at midnight. Some of us chose to go home….while others didn’t, as the party continued into the wee small hours around the bars of Weston-super-Mare!
“What a brilliant night we all had,” Andrew said, “and what a stylish way to celebrate our 20th anniversary! Twenty years in business is no mean feat, and we all had the best time marking all the successes we’ve had over two decades.
“As I said on the night, we have a huge amount to look forward to in terms of the direction our business is going, so there are exciting times ahead for all of us. Our motto this year is ‘Every Day Better’ and our evening on the Grand Pier was definitely one of those days. Thanks to everyone who came along and made it so special.”
